Several extant manuscripts bear witness to the vibrant Jewish life on Crete during the Middle Ages. Those manuscripts are today located in various libraries throughout Europe, from Oxford to London and Paris, and include, among others, a Cretan Book of Jonah, Pirkei Avoth, a Haggadah and a prayer book for the High Holidays.
